Community DM Games – Listing Membership Terms and Conditions

ROLLDARK Ltd · Version 1.1 · Effective date: 1 November 2026

Summary of key points

This summary is for convenience only. The full terms below apply.

  • What you get: a monthly membership that lets you advertise your games on our public page "Community DM Games looking for players now".
  • Plans (prices include VAT, billed monthly until you cancel): Copper £12.50 a month for 1 live listing; Silver £18.50 a month for 2 live listings; Gold £23.50 a month for unlimited live listings (fair use applies).
  • Games only – no "DM for hire" adverts. Every listing must advertise a specific game: a one-shot, campaign, session series, lesson or event. You must not advertise yourself or your services as a "DM for hire", "professional GM", or for private, corporate, birthday or other hire bookings, or suggest you are a ROLLDARK DM. Community DMs are independent and are not ROLLDARK Pro DMs. Listings that break this rule are rejected or removed without refund.
  • No commission: players pay you directly through your own ticketing link for the game. You keep all ticket money. We never handle it.
  • We are an advertising platform only. Your game is your responsibility, including refunds, cancellations, player safety, safeguarding, conduct and your own tax.
  • You must be 18 or over. Every listing must show an age rating. Under-18 players may only join with parent or guardian consent, and you are solely responsible for them.
  • We review every listing before it goes live (usually within 2 working days). We may edit for formatting, decline or remove any listing, and we decide placement and order. Approval is not an endorsement.
  • Protecting our business: you must not use ROLLDARK's name or branding to suggest endorsement or employment, approach ROLLDARK clients to offer them hire services (for 12 months after your membership ends), or take hire enquiries away from ROLLDARK. Enquiries for private, corporate or hire games must be referred to us.
  • Existing ROLLDARK DMs and contractors: you can list your own games and set your own ticket price (or run them free) while you have an active membership. You must not move ROLLDARK-listed, ticketed or revenue-shared games to a community listing, or invite players you met at ROLLDARK ticketed games, unless they have not attended a ROLLDARK game in the last 6 months. Players who find and book your game themselves are fine. The 12-month ban on approaching ROLLDARK hire clients still applies (clauses 5.3 and 10.2).
  • Cancel any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds, except your legal 14-day cancellation right if you are a consumer.
  • Price changes: we will give you at least 30 days' notice.
  • No guarantee of player numbers or bookings.
  • Your contact email will be shown publicly on your listings, and we may share your listings in our marketing unless you opt out.

1. About us and these terms

1.1 The Community DM Games listing service (the Service) is provided by ROLLDARK Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 12809127, whose registered office is at 26 Gough Close, Witney, Oxfordshire, OX29 6AE, England (ROLLDARK, we, us, our).

1.2 Our website is rolldark.co.uk. You can contact us at info@rolldark.co.uk.

1.3 These terms apply when you, an independent game master or dungeon master (you, your), buy a listing membership from us. Please read them carefully before you subscribe. By subscribing, you agree to these terms.

1.4 These terms work alongside our website terms of use and our privacy policy, which are available on our website. If there is a conflict, these terms apply to the Service.

1.5 Consumers and businesses. Some game masters run games as a hobby; others run them as a business. Some parts of these terms apply differently depending on which you are:

  • you are a consumer if you are an individual subscribing wholly or mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession; and
  • you are a business customer if you are subscribing for the purposes of your trade, business, craft or profession (for example, if you run paid games as a business or self-employed activity).

Where a clause applies only to consumers or only to business customers, we say so. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.

2. Key words used in these terms

  • Listing: an advert for one of your games on our Community DM Games page, made up of the details described in clause 6.
  • Live listing: a listing that is currently published on our website.
  • Membership: your monthly subscription to one of our plans.
  • Game: a specific tabletop role-playing game you run, such as a one-shot, a campaign, a session series, a lesson or an event.
  • Players: people who join, or ask about joining, your games.
  • Your content: all text, images, links and other material you give us for a listing.
  • ROLLDARK Pro DMs: game masters engaged by ROLLDARK to provide ROLLDARK's own hired game master service.
  • Hire services: game mastering offered for hire, including private, corporate, birthday, party, team-building, venue and other bespoke or booked-in games.
  • ROLLDARK client: any person or organisation who has booked, or made an enquiry about, a ROLLDARK service.
  • Working day: Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays in England.

3. The Service

3.1 The Service lets you advertise your games to the public on our page "Community DM Games looking for players now" on rolldark.co.uk.

3.2 Memberships are managed through Squarespace Member Areas. Once you have subscribed and are signed in, you can access a members-only form to submit your listings.

3.3 We are an advertising platform only. We do not organise, run, host, supervise or check the games you advertise. Any agreement to take part in a game is made directly between you and your players. We are not a party to that agreement and we are not your agent.

3.4 We take no commission. Players book and pay through your own ticketing link. You collect and keep all ticket money. We do not receive, hold or pass on payments for your games.

3.5 Community DMs are independent. Community DMs are not ROLLDARK Pro DMs, and are not employees, workers, contractors or representatives of ROLLDARK. ROLLDARK's hired game master service is a separate, premium service and is not offered through the Community DM Games page.

4. Membership plans and prices

4.1 We offer the following plans. All prices include VAT and are billed monthly, on a recurring basis, until you cancel.

  • Copper – £12.50 a month: 1 live listing.
  • Silver – £18.50 a month: 2 live listings.
  • Gold – £23.50 a month: unlimited live listings (one-shots, campaigns, session series, lessons and events), subject to fair use.

4.2 Your plan limits how many listings can be live at the same time. Listings that have been removed, or that are waiting for review, do not count towards your limit. If you submit more listings than your plan allows, we will not publish the extra listings until a space is free or you upgrade.

4.3 Fair use on the Gold plan. Each listing must be for a genuine, separate game that is currently recruiting. We may decline listings that are duplicates or near-duplicates, or that look intended to flood the page. We may limit Gold members to 10 live listings at any one time.

5. Who can subscribe

5.1 You must be at least 18 years old to subscribe and to list games.

5.2 You must give us accurate account details and keep them up to date. Your membership is personal to you. You must not share your account or list games run by someone else, unless you are the person running them.

5.3 Existing ROLLDARK DMs and contractors. If you also work with ROLLDARK as a ROLLDARK Pro DM or contractor:

  • these terms do not change your separate agreement with ROLLDARK, which continues to apply;
  • a community listing does not make you, or show you as, a ROLLDARK Pro DM;
  • like any other member, you may list your own games and set your own ticket price (or run your games for free), as long as you have an active membership;
  • (a) ROLLDARK games: you must not move a game that ROLLDARK already lists, tickets or takes a share of to a community listing, or otherwise use the Service to bypass ROLLDARK, without our written agreement; and
  • (b) ROLLDARK players: you must not solicit or invite any player you met through a ROLLDARK game to join or book your community-listed games, unless that player has not attended any ROLLDARK game in the previous 6 months. This 6-month exception applies to players from ROLLDARK ticketed games. ROLLDARK clients who have booked or enquired about private, corporate, birthday or other hire games are covered by clause 10.2, and its 12-month restriction is not shortened by this clause.

A player who finds and books one of your community games themselves, through the public Community DM Games page and without being solicited or invited by you, does not put you in breach of clause 5.3(b).

6. What a listing includes

6.1 Each listing may include:

  • a description of up to 600 characters;
  • one promotional image, 1000 × 1000 pixels (AI-generated images are allowed, subject to clause 9);
  • the game system (for example, D&D 5e or Pathfinder);
  • the game type (one-shot, campaign, session series, lesson or event);
  • the day and time, in UK time;
  • whether the game is online or in person and, if in person, the location;
  • the price per seat;
  • an age rating (see clause 9.6);
  • a "Find out more" contact email address; and
  • a "Buy ticket now" link to the ticket or booking page for that specific game, using your own ticketing or booking method, such as Start Playing, your own Stripe or PayPal payment link, Eventbrite, or your own booking arrangement.

6.2 We decide how listings look on our website, including layout, design and format. We may change these from time to time.

7. Submitting listings, review and publication

7.1 You submit listings using the members-only form. You must complete the form accurately.

7.2 We review every listing before publishing it. We usually publish approved listings within 2 working days of receiving a complete submission, but we cannot guarantee this.

7.3 Editorial discretion. We have full editorial discretion over the Community DM Games page. We may, at our discretion:

  • decide the placement, order and grouping of listings, and whether any listing is featured or promoted;
  • edit a listing for formatting, length, spelling, layout or consistency, without changing its meaning;
  • resize, crop or compress images so they display properly;
  • ask you to change a listing before we publish it;
  • refuse to publish any listing; and
  • remove a live listing at any time.

7.4 Approval is not endorsement. Publishing a listing does not mean that ROLLDARK has checked, recommends, endorses or guarantees you or your game.

7.5 We will usually tell you if we decline or remove a listing and why, unless we are not allowed to, or it would not be appropriate (for example, where we suspect fraud).

7.6 You must keep your listings accurate and up to date. You must tell us promptly, using the members' form or by emailing info@rolldark.co.uk, if a game is full, cancelled, rescheduled or has changed in any important way, so that we can update or remove the listing.

7.7 We may remove listings for games that appear to have taken place, be full, have been cancelled or be out of date.

8. Game listings only – no "DM for hire" advertising

8.1 Every listing must advertise a specific game – a one-shot, campaign, session series, lesson or event – with its own details, date or schedule, and ticket or booking link.

8.2 You must not use a listing, your image, your description or your links to:

  • advertise yourself or your services as a "DM for hire", "GM for hire", "professional DM", "professional GM" or similar;
  • offer or invite enquiries for hire services, including private, corporate, birthday, party or other booked-in games;
  • advertise yourself generally, rather than a specific game; or
  • suggest that you are a ROLLDARK DM, a ROLLDARK Pro DM, or employed, engaged, approved or endorsed by ROLLDARK.

8.3 Community DMs are independent and are not ROLLDARK Pro DMs. ROLLDARK's hired game master service remains a separate, premium ROLLDARK service. Advertising hire services on the Community DM Games page would mislead the public and is not allowed.

8.4 Automatic rejection or removal. Any listing that breaks this clause 8 will be rejected or removed. If a live listing is removed for this reason, no refund will be given for any part of your membership, except where the law requires. Repeated or serious breaches may lead to suspension or termination of your membership under clause 18.

9. Listing content rules

9.1 You must only submit content that you own or have permission to use. This includes text, artwork, logos, photographs and AI-generated images. If you use an AI tool to create an image, you are responsible for making sure you are allowed to use that image commercially under the tool's terms, and that it does not copy someone else's protected work, characters or trade marks.

9.2 Your content must not:

  • break the "game listings only" rule in clause 8;
  • be unlawful, or promote or encourage anything illegal;
  • be hateful, discriminatory, harassing, threatening or abusive towards any person or group;
  • include sexually explicit content or nudity;
  • be false, misleading or deceptive, including about the price, format, content, experience or availability of a game;
  • impersonate any person, business or organisation, or suggest an official connection or endorsement that does not exist (for example, with ROLLDARK, a game publisher or a brand);
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights; or
  • contain malware or harmful links.

9.3 Every listing must be for a real game that you are genuinely running and that is currently recruiting players.

9.4 Links. The "Buy ticket now" link must go directly to the ticket or booking page for the specific game advertised. A Start Playing ticket link for that specific game is allowed. Your links must not:

  • go to a general profile, directory page or "hire me" page;
  • go to any other game master hire agency, marketplace or directory, or promote one;
  • be affiliate, referral or tracking links that earn you or anyone else a commission;
  • require players to join a mailing list, newsletter, server or group before they can see the booking details or buy a ticket; or
  • be used to harvest players' personal data for any purpose other than booking and running the game advertised.

The "Find out more" email must be one you use to answer questions about the game.

9.5 No competing promotion. Your listing must not promote any other game master hire agency, booking marketplace or directory, or any service that competes with ROLLDARK's hired game master service.

9.6 Age rating and content warnings. Every listing must state an age rating or age guidance (for example, "18+", "16+" or "suitable for ages 12+ with parent or guardian consent"). If your game includes mature themes (for example, graphic violence, horror, strong language or other sensitive subjects), your listing must also include clear content warnings.

10. Protecting ROLLDARK's business

10.1 ROLLDARK name and branding. You must not use ROLLDARK's name, logo, branding or website content in any way that suggests ROLLDARK employs, engages, approves or endorses you or your games. You may say, accurately, that your game is "listed on ROLLDARK". You must stop doing so when the listing is removed.

10.2 No soliciting ROLLDARK clients. While you are a member, and for 12 months after your membership ends, you must not use a listing, or any contact made through a listing or through ROLLDARK, to:

  • approach or solicit any person or organisation you know to be a ROLLDARK client, to offer them hire services; or
  • redirect enquiries for hire services away from ROLLDARK.

This does not stop you from working with people you already knew independently, or with people who find you without any involvement from ROLLDARK.

Existing ROLLDARK DMs and contractors. This clause 10.2 is subject to clause 5.3 for existing ROLLDARK DMs and contractors. The 12-month restriction continues to apply in full to ROLLDARK clients who have booked or enquired about hire services, including private, corporate and birthday games. Inviting players from ROLLDARK ticketed games to your community-listed games is governed by clause 5.3(b), including its 6-month exception, and not by this clause 10.2.

10.3 Referring hire enquiries to ROLLDARK. If you receive an enquiry through a listing for a private, corporate, birthday or other hire game, you must refer it to ROLLDARK by forwarding it to info@rolldark.co.uk or by directing the person to rolldark.co.uk. We may, at our discretion, offer you a referral fee for an enquiry that becomes a booking. Any referral fee will be agreed with you in writing and is not guaranteed.

10.4 Reputation. You must not act in a way that brings ROLLDARK, the Community DM Games page or the wider community into disrepute, whether at your games, online or in your dealings with players.

11. Your responsibilities as a game master

11.1 You are solely responsible for your games and for your dealings with players. In particular, you are responsible for:

  • bookings and payments: collecting ticket money through your own ticketing method, and complying with that payment or ticketing provider's terms;
  • refunds and cancellations: setting and honouring your own refund and cancellation policy, and handling player refund requests and complaints;
  • consumer law: giving players accurate information and meeting any legal obligations you have to them;
  • conduct: running your games safely, respectfully and lawfully, and dealing with player behaviour at your games;
  • player safety and safeguarding: taking appropriate steps to keep players safe;
  • under-18 players: players under 18 may only join your games with the consent of a parent or guardian. You are solely responsible for obtaining that consent, for following appropriate safeguarding practices, and for complying with any law that applies to working with children;
  • in-person games: making sure any venue you use is safe, suitable and accessible as described, and that you have any permissions, insurance or licences you need;
  • tax: your own tax affairs, including declaring income to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and registering for VAT if required; and
  • data: handling players' personal data lawfully, including under UK data protection law.

11.2 You must not suggest to players that ROLLDARK runs, organises, supervises, vets or guarantees your game.

11.3 If we receive a complaint about you or your game, we may pass it on to you, ask you to respond, and take action under clause 18 if appropriate. We are not obliged to resolve disputes between you and players.

12. Our role and what we do not do

12.1 We do not check the identity, qualifications, background or suitability of game masters, or the safety or suitability of any game or venue.

12.2 We do not handle ticket payments, refunds or chargebacks for your games, and we are not responsible for any dispute between you and your players.

12.3 We are not responsible for the services or terms of any third-party ticketing or payment provider you choose to use.

13. Licence to use your content and marketing

13.1 You keep ownership of your content.

13.2 You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, copy, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for formatting, resizing, cropping and compressing) and publish your content for the purposes of:

  • displaying your listings on our website; and
  • promoting your listings and the Community DM Games page in our marketing, including our email newsletter and our social media channels.

13.3 Opting out of marketing. We may include your listings in our marketing by default. If you do not want us to, email info@rolldark.co.uk and we will stop including your listings in new marketing within a reasonable time.

13.4 This licence lasts for as long as your content is published or used under these terms. When a listing is removed or your membership ends, we will remove the listing from our website within a reasonable time. We are not required to delete newsletters already sent or social media posts already published, but we will remove a social media post on request where reasonably possible.

13.5 You confirm that you have all rights needed to give us this licence, and that our use of your content as allowed by these terms will not infringe anyone else's rights.

14. Billing and payment

14.1 Payments are taken through Squarespace and its payment processor. By subscribing, you authorise recurring monthly payments for your plan until you cancel.

14.2 Your first payment is taken when you subscribe. After that, you will be charged on the same day each month (or the nearest equivalent day).

14.3 You must keep your payment details up to date in your account.

14.4 Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may pause your live listings and your access to the listing form until payment is made. If payment is still outstanding after a reasonable period, we may end your membership.

14.5 Squarespace's own terms and privacy policy also apply to how your payments and account are processed.

15. Cancelling your membership

15.1 Cancelling at any time. You can cancel your membership at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Your listings will stay live until then, and you will not be charged again.

15.2 No partial refunds. We do not give refunds or partial refunds for unused time in a billing period, or for listings you do not use, except where the law requires us to or as set out in clause 15.3.

15.3 Consumers – 14-day cancellation right. If you are a consumer, you have a legal right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel your membership within 14 days of the day after you subscribe, without giving a reason.

  • When you subscribe, you ask us to start providing the Service straight away, during the 14-day cancellation period.
  • If you cancel within the 14 days, we will refund the payment you have made, minus a proportionate amount for the Service provided up to the time you tell us you are cancelling. If we have not yet published any of your listings when you cancel, you will receive a full refund.
  • To use this right, email info@rolldark.co.uk with your name, account email address and a clear statement that you are cancelling. You may also use the model cancellation form set out at the end of these terms, but you do not have to.
  • We will make any refund within 14 days of the day you tell us you are cancelling, using the same payment method you used.
  • This right applies to the start of your membership only, not to each monthly renewal.

15.4 Business customers. If you are a business customer, the 14-day cancellation right in clause 15.3 does not apply to you. You may still cancel at any time under clause 15.1.

15.5 When your membership ends for any reason, we will remove your listings from our website and your access to the members-only form will end.

16. Changing your plan

16.1 You can upgrade or downgrade your plan from your account. Changes to billing are handled through Squarespace, and may take effect immediately or from your next billing date, depending on how Squarespace processes the change. Your account will show the details before you confirm.

16.2 Downgrading. If you downgrade to a plan with fewer live listings than you currently have, the excess listings will be removed when the downgrade takes effect. You can tell us which listings to keep. If you do not tell us before the downgrade takes effect, we will keep your most recently published listings.

17. Price changes

17.1 We may change our membership prices. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a new price applies to you. The new price will apply from your first billing date after the notice period ends.

17.2 If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel your membership before it takes effect, and you will not be charged the new price.

18. Rejection, removal, suspension and termination

18.1 Automatic rejection or removal. We will reject or remove a listing that:

  • advertises you or your services as a "DM for hire", professional GM or hire service, or suggests you are a ROLLDARK DM (clause 8);
  • does not advertise a specific, genuine game that is currently recruiting; or
  • breaks the content or link rules in clause 9.

18.2 Other grounds. We may also remove any or all of your listings, or suspend or end your membership, if:

  • you break these terms, including clause 10 (protecting ROLLDARK's business);
  • we reasonably believe your listings or games are fraudulent, unsafe, unlawful or likely to harm players, other game masters or ROLLDARK;
  • your conduct brings, or is likely to bring, ROLLDARK or the Community DM Games page into disrepute or damages our reputation;
  • we receive player complaints, or see reviews or ratings, that give us reasonable concern about you or your games;
  • you do not pay as described in clause 14.4; or
  • we are required to do so by law or by a regulator or other authority.

18.3 Where reasonable, we will tell you about the problem and give you a chance to put it right before we act. We do not have to do so for automatic rejection or removal under clause 18.1, or where the matter is serious.

18.4 If we remove a listing, or suspend or end your membership, because you have broken these terms, we will not give you a refund for any part of your membership, except where the law requires.

18.5 We may also stop offering the Service, or end your membership for any other reason, by giving you at least 30 days' notice. If we do this, we will refund any payment you have made for a period after the Service ends.

19. No guarantee of results and website availability

19.1 We will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. However, we do not guarantee any number of views, enquiries, players, bookings or ticket sales from your listings.

19.2 We aim to keep our website available, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or free from errors. We may suspend access for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. We will try to keep any interruption as short as possible.

20. Our liability to you

20.1 What we do not exclude. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including, if you are a consumer, your legal rights in relation to services.

20.2 Our responsibility for your games. Because we are an advertising platform only, we are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from the games you run, your dealings with players, venues, or third-party ticketing and payment providers.

20.3 If you are a consumer: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.

20.4 If you are a business customer: we will not be liable for any loss of profits, sales, business, revenue, goodwill or business opportunity, or for any indirect or consequential loss.

20.5 Limit on our liability. Subject to clause 20.1, our total liability to you arising from or in connection with these terms or the Service is limited to the total membership fees you have paid us in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

21. Your responsibility for claims (indemnity)

21.1 If you are a business customer, you will indemnify ROLLDARK against any losses, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) we suffer as a result of any claim by a third party arising from your games, your content, your dealings with players or your breach of these terms.

21.2 If you are a consumer, you are responsible under the law for any loss you cause us by breaking these terms, where that loss was reasonably foreseeable.

22. Your personal data

22.1 We process your personal data as a controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, in line with our privacy policy, which is available on our website.

22.2 Public contact email. The "Find out more" contact email you provide will be shown publicly on your listings and may appear in our marketing. Any other personal details in your listing (such as your name or a venue address) will also be public. Consider using a dedicated email address for your games.

22.3 You are responsible for any personal data of players that you collect through your own contact methods or ticketing.

23. Changes to these terms

23.1 We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law, our Service or how we operate.

23.2 We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email of any change that materially affects you. If you do not agree with the change, you can cancel your membership before it takes effect. If you continue your membership after the change takes effect, the updated terms will apply.

23.3 We may make minor changes (such as correcting typos or clarifying wording) without notice. The current version and its date will always be shown at the top of these terms.

24. Complaints and contact

24.1 If you have a question or complaint about the Service, please email info@rolldark.co.uk. We will aim to respond within 5 working days.

24.2 Complaints about a game, or about a game master's conduct, should be raised with the game master first. You can also tell us about any listing you think breaks these terms.

25. General

25.1 Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation. We will tell you if this happens, and it will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your membership to anyone else without our written agreement.

25.2 Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of Squarespace or another service provider, internet outages or extreme weather.

25.3 No third-party rights. No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.

25.4 Severability. If a court finds any part of these terms unlawful or unenforceable, the rest will continue in force.

25.5 No waiver. If we do not enforce these terms straight away, we can still enforce them later.

25.6 Entire agreement (business customers only). If you are a business customer, these terms (together with the documents referred to in them) are the whole agreement between us about the Service.

26. Governing law and jurisdiction

26.1 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

26.2 If you are a business customer, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

26.3 If you are a consumer, you can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring proceedings in Scotland, and if you live in Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland.
